A Woman You Should Meet: Rosie Mac

The English-born, Spanish-raised 18-year-old Rosie Mac can be found (though it’s hard to tell) on Game of Thrones as Emilia Clarke’s character Daenerys Targaryen’s body double. Her incredible likeness to Clarke isn’t the only thing grabbing people’s attention. Her Instagram account has an interesting bio. We’ll let her talk about it.

How does one get a job as a body double?

Game of Thrones held a casting only a few hours away from me that I had planned to go to. Unfortunately, I had another job that day and was quite sad. I’m a huge GOT fan and really wanted to go to a casting for them in whatever capacity. A day later I got a call from a modelling agency that I had worked for previously asking if I would be interested in playing the part of a double on Game of Thrones, though they didn’t say which part it was.

Luckily, my measurements were an exact fit. With only one day’s notice, I was off to Osuna in Spain to film for 6 weeks .

Describe a day on set.

The day begins at dawn when we go into make up. My wig and costume have to be a perfect match to Emilia Clarke’s that day, which can take hours of preparation. The whole rest of the day is spent on set filming, which is very hard work due to the extreme heat in Osuna, but always exciting. We usually finish up around 9 at night.

What do you love about filming the show? What don’t you love quite as much?

I love having the opportunity to watch the show develop, to watch the scenes unfold and see how they are put together. Everything is so spectacular on the show… like the special effects. Learning from some of the incredible talent on one of the greatest-ever productions is so cool.

What I can do without is working such long hours in such intense heat!

Do you ever get mistaken for Emilia Clarke when you’re not in costume?

No, it hasn’t really happened. I honestly get recognized as myself as Emilia’s body double.

I know you do so many different things in the industry. Which is your favourite?

I am a performer. I sing, act, dance and model. I also have my own business, a model and casting agency here in Marbella called Mac Models and Castings. Right now, both acting and singing are both for my favourite things to do. I could not choose between the two!

Your Instagram bio says you’re waiting until marriage to have sex. Why did you think that was important to mention?

I didn’t even think about it. When I wrote ‘virgin until marriage’ in my bio, it was not in my head to advertise it. Its just my bio about me and my values. Making the decision to be celibate until I’m married was something I had decided a long time ago.

You must get a lot of weird messages from admirers.

I get loads of weird messages about remaining a virgin, but i also get a lot from young girls that have felt pressured into having sex at times and now feel okay about saving their virginity until they are ready or have found the right one. i’m glad that i have been able to have that influence.
