Drake’s Latest Cringe-Inducing Dance Moves Give Hope to Us All

Drizzy, my dude, thank you. You could’ve rested on your laurels, could’ve held on to the title of Goofiest Dancer in Modern Music forever based on the infinitely meme-able merits of the “Hotline Bling” video alone. You could’ve realized you’re sitting alone atop the rap game and tried to act accordingly, cool and aloof, trading in your dad grooves for the same two-step with a little twist.

But you didn’t do any of that. Instead, you stayed true to yourself, to your dorky Canadian roots, and doubled down on the cringe-worthy dance moves in the just-released music video for YG’s “Why You Always Hatin?,” one of the summer’s most indelible hip hop anthems.

And by doing so, by wylin’ out and actin’ a fool next to one of the hardest rappers on the West Coast, you’ve given us all hope. All of us: the overly sweaty guy too timid to hit the dance floor at his buddy’s wedding; the awkward kid bobbing in the corner of a middle school dance; the homebody jamming out alone in his living room in the wee hours of the morning. Because if you can go out there and be this damn dorky in public, then by George, so can we.

So thank you, Drake. Let’s go ahead and take a closer look at all your goofy ass moves now, shall we?

YG gets to swerve through the streets of LA in a drop-top Lambo.

Drake, meanwhile, hangs out the passenger side of his best friend’s ride and makes driving motions like he’s a four-year-old in a toddler seat.

YG stunts hard leaning on the side of a helicopter in flight.

Drake does the Running Man.

Kamaiyah guzzles bubbly while getting foot rubs from shirtless men.

Drake does what can only be described as a half-assed take on the Funky Chicken.

Here he is doing the white man’s overbite

…milking the udders of an invisible cow…

…and tossing up wholly inappropriate gang signs.

In his own awkward, embarrassing, fearless way, Drake is all of us.

Keep dancing like nobody’s watching, 6 God. Respek.
