Fresh Looks, Fresh Powder: Discover Louis Vuitton Men’s Ski Collection

Ski mountaineer Caroline Gleich once told us, “The early bird gets the fresh powder — or fresh corduroy, as we like to call it.” As it turns out, the early bird also gets first dibs on shearling collars, cable-knits, and well-insulated wool jackets; you’ll find these items and more on the Louis Vuitton racks. On Friday, the brand launched a smattering of sleek après-ski styles as part of the 2025 Men’s Ski Collection, synthesizing technical skiwear with the discerning savoir-faire we’ve come to expect from Louis Vuitton.

With a range of mindful materials, the collection puts a clear emphasis on sustainability. Technical jackets sport cozy lining, spun from certified organic cotton. Louis Vuitton explains that the soft fibre is made in accordance with rigorous standards put in place to preserve biodiversity, conserve resources, and protect farmers’ working conditions. Elsewhere, ski suits and shells make use of recycled polyamide and polyester, turning secondhand materials into first-rate garments.

Functionality, another core tenet of the Men’s Skiwear Collection, shows up in a slew of high-performance apparel. Numerous silhouettes are water-and-wind- proofed, built to withstand shrieking gusts and heaping mountains of powder. In true sportswear fashion, the garments prioritize utility with details like goggle pockets, ski pass holders, and ventilation zips.

Of course, this is still Louis Vuitton — even in pursuit of practicality, the Skiwear Collection doesn’t forgo style. Like a creature of the Arctic, the Damoflage motif grows a winter coat, referencing frigid mountain peaks with an icy collection of colours. Pearls, quickly becoming a staple of Pharrell Williams’ Louis Vuitton, crawl up tracksuits and cable-knit sweaters. The Speedy P9, meanwhile, is constructed in Damier jacquard winter denim with shearling trim. The classic bag makes a fitting match for various knitwear accessories, including reversible wool beanies and scarves, knitted blankets, and technical mittens.

Despite its focus on skiwear, the clothing remains versatile. Sophisticated silhouettes maintain an easy, ready-to-wear sense of style — or, as Louis Vuitton puts it, ‘an off-slope attitude.’ You’ll notice a certain, ski-and-street- wear duality in the leather piping of padded black coats, the lightweight nylon of Monogram blousons, and the vintage flair of leather varsity jackets.

If there’s a single offering that summarizes the ethos of the new collection, though, it’s the limited-edition Louis Vuitton Snowboard. With just one hundred snowboards made, the style captures an unbridled sense of creativity, made possible through small-batch production. Here, materials are simple: poplar, steel, beechwood, fibreglass. Crafting techniques, however, are highly refined. Tucked away in the French Alps, a group of artisans fashion each board by hand. Visually, the snowboard is an amalgamation of styles, taking inspiration from retro skiwear and borrowing elements of classic LV patterns like Damier and Monogram.

Walking a fine line between heritage and innovation, the Maison manages to synthesize recognizable patterns, futuristic silhouettes, and sustainable materials. Balancing an artisanal, prėt-a-porter look with a sleek, function-first mindset, the Louis Vuitton Men’s Ski Collection ushers in a new era of sportswear.
