SHARP Flies West for the Alberta Unveiling of The Glenlivet 40 Year Old
Following the show-stopping Canadian debut of The Glenlivet 40 Year Old in Toronto earlier this year, SHARP travelled west to introduce the expression to its VIP attendees across the country. Naturally, Toronto’s unveiling posed a tough act to follow but Calgary’s Major Tom Bar set a grand stage for a room full of the country’s premier tastemakers to experience The Glenlivet’s oldest permanent expression.

Hosted on the 40th floor of Stephen Avenue Place, Major Tom features striking panoramic views of Calgary and its surrounding landscapes, offering guests a stunning backdrop worthy of such a singular release. After all, The Glenlivet 40 Year Old marks a watershed achievement in the brand’s storied history. After celebrating its 200th anniversary last year, the 40 Year Old offered guests an opportunity to experience the unparalleled craftsmanship poured into creating this new, elevated single malt bottle.
“Last year, we proudly marked 200 years of The Glenlivet — two centuries of pushing boundaries and setting the standard for Speyside single malt whisky,” says Maura Cowan, Vice President, Marketing, Corby Spirit & Wine. “The 40 Year Old is a testament to The Glenlivet’s storied heritage, and we invite Canadians to raise a glass with us as we celebrate this exceptional new single malt.”

To commemorate the second unveiling of the 40 Year Old, SHARP’s exclusive list of 20 VIPs were invited to experience a private dinner, with each course paired with a different expression from The Glenlivet Collection. The Glenlivet 15 Year Old was paired with a first course of smoked scallop crudo, followed by The Glenlivet 14 Year Old, which was served alongside grilled Icelandic langoustine. The main course — a dry-aged Alberta striploin with port and black currant jus, black currant, and glazed beetroot — was paired with The Glenlivet 18 Year Old. The Glenlivet 21 Year Old found itself as the dessert pairing, served with a baked Alaska with sour cherry and Marcona almond, before the star of the show — The Glenlivet 40 Year Old — was poured with anticipation.
