Bumblebee Point is one of the most architecturally significant homes in Muskoka and, in our view, one of the most remarkable residences you can rent. It was designed by the Norwegian architecture firm Snøhetta, a group responsible for landmarks such as the Oslo Opera House and National September 11 Memorial Museum Pavilion.
Like Snøhetta’s other works, Bumblebee Point was meticulously designed to be part of the landscape rather than just sitting upon it. It is inspired by the rugged beauty captured in the paintings of Canada’s Group of Seven, where every design decision was made to strengthen the connection between the home and its natural surroundings. From the expansive iron-free glass walls that dissolve the boundary between indoors and out to the sweeping roofline emulating the windswept pines found throughout the Canadian Shield, the architecture is intended to immerse guests in the landscape.
