AUDI x SHARP
Successful people come in several shapes: artists experiment with form while designers find new functions; architects shape our environment as athletes refine our relationship to it. Yet across every field, those who triumph share a common truth: ambition matters more than achievement. They keep refining, keep pushing, and never settle for good enough. That relentless pursuit shows who they are.

On Tuesday, this sentiment set the scene for a memorable evening. Audi Canada brought the idea to life with the unveiling of the all-new Audi Q9. Held at a private estate on the Niagara Escarpment, the event carried a simple theme: the consequence of our ideals.
Craft and ambition took centre stage. A conversation with TIME Canada spotlighted the people and ideas shaping the country’s future, putting the theme in focus. Then it was time for the Q9 reveal.

Audi’s first full-size luxury SUV refuses all restrictions: the Q9 is powered by a twin-turbo V6 with 429 horsepower, reaching 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds. The SQ9 goes even further, producing up to 591 horsepower with a twin-turbo V8. Both deliver roughly 90 more horsepower than the previous-generation V6 and V8 engines. Meanwhile, the quattro all-wheel drive is always engaged, balancing grip before drivers can detect a change in surface. And, thanks to adaptive air suspension, the Q9 boasts the agility of a much smaller car — because “good enough” was never the goal.

Inside, each detail reflects Audi’s commitment to excellence: this car refuses to settle. The cabin counts six individual seats (with second-row captain’s chairs to boot), offering an optimal mix of sportiness and comfort. Drivers can also opt for a seven-seat configuration at purchase. And, with its imposing Bang & Olufsen sound system, Audi introduces immersive 4D sound throughout the cabin. At the rear, Audi continues its decades-long work in automotive lighting with world-first curved digital OLED lights, made possible by ultra-thin glass.

The Pine’s tasting menu carried the evening’s theme to the table. Chef Jeremy Austin builds each course from memories of his travels, pairing Chinese technique with Southern Ontario ingredients. Served with skill, the dinner was a reminder that high standards look the same in a kitchen as anywhere else.
Audi, whose motto Vorsprung durch Technik translates to ‘progress through technology,’ has held itself to a high standard for more than a century. To chase perfection is to learn one’s true capabilities, and to grow them. The first-ever Q9 family is the consequence of Audi’s ideals.
