The summer is over, and you now have six months to either work on your golf game or develop one from scratch. It’s not all hard work and self-loathing, though; some of it is retail therapy and state-of-the-art putting greens.
Golf Town has spent $15 million on their new 40,000 sq. ft. flagship store in Oakville, and it looks infinitely more fun than your local club’s pro shop. The putting technology alone is incredible. The store features a 1,300 sq. ft. putting green — that’s four times bigger than what you’ll find at most stores, or the floorplan of the average three-bedroom townhouse — with a dual-projector PuttView system projecting lines and interactive games onto the surface.

A separate putting surface inside the StudioX fitting area actually physically moves and contorts to recreate different breaks and undulations, so you can test out your prospective new putter or just cast yourself as the hero in some of golf history’s great moments. If you’ve ever wanted to pretend you’re Jack Nicklaus rolling in a 22-footer to win the U.S. Open at Baltusrol in 1980, or Jon Rahm sinking his 18-footer on the 18th green at Torrey Pines in 2021, this is your chance.
There are spaces dedicated to the S-tier brands like TaylorMade, Callaway, Odyssey, PING, and Titleist, and top-of-the-range apparel from Johnnie-O, Beach Riot, Holderness & Bourne, RLX, Peter Millar, TravisMathew, Nike, and Jordan. And there’s the type of gear usually reserved for tour players too. Real heads know about (and lust over) the Scotty Cameron Circle T putters; now they’re dangerously accessible.

The store features five Foresight simulator bays to test out everything that isn’t a putter, and compile reams of ball-flight and swing data, all under the watchful eye of Golf Town’s specialists. Everything from balls to clubs to apparel can, of course, be customized.
But even with the greatest gear in the world, monogrammed and personalized, you’ll still need to get your game ready for next summer. Thankfully, the Oakville flagship has you covered. Former NCAA Division I golfer and pro coach Alexa Kim will be hosting a clinic in the store on Wednesday, October 28, and Golf Town has plans for more clinics and sessions with coaches and ambassadors in the future.

“For more than 25 years, Golf Town has been the ultimate home for Canadian golfers both in-store and online,” Barry Williams, Golf Town’s President, said in a statement. “Our new flagship store marks an exciting step forward in our evolution, offering a welcoming destination for golfers of all levels to gather, gear up, and fall in love with the game.”
You may never play anywhere near as well as Payne Stewart. But while the fairways are frozen and it’s heated inside, you can at least try to dress with a fraction of his style and line up his putts on the simulators.
