MB&F, or Maximilian Büsser & Friends, is a brand known for its engineering and technical prowess, pushing the limits of what is possible in watchmaking. With Watches & Wonders and Time to Watches right around the corner, we’re expecting a number of fantastic releases from numerous brands. Of course, MB&F comes out early with a fan favourite: new editions to the M.A.D.2 Collection: the M.A.D.2 R&B and REDemption.

The M.A.D. Editions were designed with collectors and enthusiasts in mind. The premise of M.A.D.1, released in 2021, was to create a watch that retains the brand’s trademark engineering quality while being accessible to a wider range of collectors and enthusiasts — a cost-effective watch from an independent manufacturer. There have been various M.A.D.1 Editions: blue, red and a beautiful, brightly-coloured 2024 Time to Love collaboration with French artist Jean-Charles de Castelbajac.

Fast forward to 2025 for the second chapter of M.A.D. Editions, created by designer Eric Giroud. After 20 years of designing MB&F watches — and a creative partnership with Max Büsser — Giroud designed a watch that reflects his passion and love for the ’90s nightclub scene. Released in vibrant orange and green variations, the M.A.D.2 encapsulates Giroud’s passion for music in a watch. Inspired by turntables and records, the design carries the lively pulse of an iconic scene in music history, leading to the aforementioned new releases: the M.A.D.2 R&B and REDemption.

Crafted from stainless steel and sapphire, the M.A.D.2 Editions are shaped like a rounded stone. The first release in the new chapter is the R&B. While it stands for “Red & Black,” it’s also a tribute to “Rhythm & Blues,” a staple genre of ’90s nightlife. The dial is a stunning midnight black with contrasting red jump hour and minute discs, all of which are built on the Swiss-made La Joux-Perret calibre G101. The M.A.D.2 R&B will be available through a raffle system, which has become a trademark of previous M.A.D. Editions. To give everyone a fair chance, registration will be open for one week — and the draw will be held under bailiff supervision.

The next release? M.A.D.2 REDemption. Reserved for those who took part in the previous who took part in the four previous raffles and came out watch-less (hence the name REDemption), this release is for the loyal aficionados. The colour scheme for M.A.D.2 REDemption is the opposite of the R&B: It sports a bright red dial with black jump-hour and trailing timing discs, also built on the La Joux-Perret calibre G101. As a tribute for the tenacious few, the back of the watch features one special detail on the winding rotor: “They say I’m stubborn, I’d say persistent.” Participants of these raffles will be contacted by the M.A.D. Editions team and offered an opportunity to acquire the watch.
