The protests come just days after the arrest of former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, taken in for his connection to the massive corruption scandal involving the state-run oil company Petrobras. Rousseff, who served as Lula’s chief of staff, has also been implicated in the investigation and is currently facing impeachment.
