After Florence and Milan, the menswear world comes to its crescendo at Paris Fashion Week, home to storied maisons like Louis Vuitton and Dior, but also where avant-garde gems like Comme des Garçons Homme Plus stage their shows. The style on the street is also at its peak in Paris, with a mix of the current season’s hottest styles and the rarest archive pieces.
If streetwear took a back seat in Florence — and to a lesser extent in Milan — it’s been at the fore in Paris, albeit to a lesser extent than in recent years. The next wave of luxury appears to have an American bend, with KidSuper and ERL — who have collaborated with Louis Vuitton and Dior, respectively — popular on the streets outside of shows, alongside younger Parisian brands like Bluemarble.
If there’s one thing that’s stood out, it’s the statement jacket. Whether it’s a colourful, graphic-adorned puffer, a sophisticated wool coat, or a reinterpreted workwear staple, bold outerwear has replaced the more reserved options seen on the streets of Florence.
