Five Drinks to Serve Dad This Father’s Day

Mark Anthony & SHARP

Pour one out for your pop this Father’s Day. Whether he likes his drinks straight-up, delights in a classic cocktail, or is in the mood for something fun and fruity, we have a recipe he’s sure to love. After all, he made you — it’s only fair you make him a drink, right?

Glendalough: New Old Fashion

New Old Fashion
1 Shot Glendalough Double Barrel Whiskey
Angostura Bitters
Sugar cube
Lemon rind
Pull out a sugar cube and douse it with angostura bitters, then muddle the mixture with a shot of Glendalough Double Barrel. Add ice and top with as much soda as you’d like. Garnish with a lemon rind and cherry.

Is your old man the life and soul of the party? If so, he’s sure to love this sparkling riff on a classic Old Fashioned, made with delicious Irish Glendalough Double Barrel whisky. Matured in a flame charred ex-bourbon barrel of American oak and finished in an Oloroso sherry cask from the small Spanish town of Montilla, this smooth and subtly-sweet spirit plays perfectly in a high-end mixed drink.  With a little effervescence, this cocktail is a great way to kick-off a soiree. If you’re hosting a gathering in your dad’s honour, consider this your ‘welcome’ serve.

Bearface: The Wild Manhattan

The Wild Manhattan
1.5oz BEARFACE Whisky
0.75oz sweet vermouth
0.25oz Fernet Branca
0.25oz sugar syrup
Orange peel for the twist
Cherry for garnish
Pour each ingredient into a mixing glass, then fill the glass with ice and stir. Strain the drink into a chilled coupe or martini glass, add a twist of orange, and garnish with a cherry.

Is your dad somewhat of a distinguished gentleman? There is nothing finer than a well crafted Manhattan, and he’ll love this twist with Canada-made Bearface whisky and a little fernet for extra vegetal depth. If you’re hosting a dinner party in dad’s honour, this would make the perfect digestif.

The Dalmore Cigar Malt is the ultimate Father’s Day gift, and — if you’re lucky — he might pour you a glass too.  Making the perfect accompaniment to fine cigars, this exquisite Highland single malt is matured in American white oak ex-Bourbon casks, cabernet sauvignon barriques and Matusalem Oloroso sherry casks.
