Family Luxury, Redefined: INFINITI’s QX60 Helps You Do More

As the snow melts and winter gives way to warmer weather, thoughts turn to summer vacations, epic road trips, and impromptu weekend getaways with family and friends.

Bringing everyone (and all of their stuff) along for the journey isn’t always easy, but that challenge is exactly what INFINITI’S designers and engineers had in mind when they created the family-friendly new 2025 INFINITI QX60. The fan-favourite SUV has seating for six or seven, smart luxuries, and a price — starting at just over $60,000 — that leaves plenty of room in a family’s budget for getting out and doing things. But what truly sets the new QX60 apart from the usual three-row SUV suspects is that it’s designed specifically to cater to the complex needs of today’s modern families.

Today’s family structure is evolving. There are more multi-generation families, and families are having fewer children on average, according to Statistics Canada. (In fact, multi-generational households are the fastest-growing household type in Canada.) The result is grandparents are getting much more involved with their grandchildren, joining in their lives.

At the same time, post-pandemic data shows a rise in friend-group travel among Canadians in their 30s and 40s, with multiple couples or families vacationing together. Kids from one-child families often want (beg!) to bring their friends along for trips.

Parents are changing too. With more people having their first children in their 30s, it means new parents have established careers and don’t want to cram everyone into some old hatchback like they might’ve done in their college years. Modern parents have higher expectations. They ask (and expect) a lot from a vehicle.

Key to the new INFINITI QX60’s family-friendly luxury is that it gives parents the ability to simply say ‘yes’ more often.

For example, optional second-row captain’s chairs give a first-class experience to grandparents or friends coming along for the journey. Air vents neatly positioned in the headliner above second- and third-row passengers ensure everyone stays comfortable.

Alternatively, a second-row bench option allows for up to seven passengers, in case you wanted to bring your kid’s little-league soccer team along for the ride. In that scenario you’ll be thankful INFINITI’s engineers thought to include an onboard Wi-Fi hotspot. It can connect up to seven devices, which will come in handy when, inevitably, all of the kids want to watch something different for on-the-go entertainment. USB ports in each row (yes, including the back) means no arguments over who gets to charge when. A unique “theatre-seating” layout grants a view of the road ahead no matter where they end up sitting.

If you’ve got a baby seat in the second row, you’ll be glad to know the spacious cabin means there’s room for passengers to climb into the third row without removing the second row baby seat. One-touch access to the rearmost seats makes access effortless. If, on the other hand, you’ve got a whole range of baby, toddler, and booster-seats onboard, LATCH points are available in both the second and third rows for maximum flexibility. (You never know who might object to sitting next to whom.)

For a moment of Zen, parents in the front-row can enjoy available built-in massaging seats. If you’re never tried them, it may sound like a gimmick, but we’re speaking from experience here when we say massaging seats feel like an absolute godsend on long drives. While they don’t replace a spa day, they do provide a welcome respite. On top of that, INFINITI’s famous Zero Gravity seats help you get to your destination feeling fresh.

All the tech in the QX60 isn’t there just for show; it’s been put there to de-stress driving. If, for example, the rearview mirror is blocked by back-seat passengers, the clever Smart Rear View Monitor option turns the mirror into a camera display, showing exactly what’s behind the vehicle on a big 9.6-inch screen. Also available is the ProPILOT Assist with Navi-link system — which combines data from the onboard nav system with the advanced driver assists — acts like a smart assistant to the driver on single-lane freeways and can even help slow the QX60 for curves or off-ramps.

None of these clever features happened by accident. INFINITI knows its customers. Peyman Kargar, one of the executives who oversaw the QX60 project and INFINITI’s former global chairperson, said “Our customers pursue lives fuelled by their passion for family, work and play. Summer provides a welcome pause from rigorous schedules, to spend time with loved ones and travel, and it is important their vehicle supports them.”

“The QX60 is the perfect companion to make family travel easier, whether around town or on longer road trips,” he added.

Modern families demand a lot from their SUVs, but the new 2025 INFINITI QX60 does not disappoint.
