Level Up With INFINITI Distinction

Luxury is changing. In the car world, for most of the last 100 years, luxury has meant leather seats, big engines and bigger cars. Today — at a time when big engines are giving way to battery-power and turbochargers, and leather competes with vegan alternatives — the one true luxury is time. It’s a cliché only because it’s true. Time is the rarest commodity in the pervasive hustle-culture that’s increasingly tipping the work-life balance in favour of the former, and so it’s really the luxury of time that INFINITI’s Distinction program aims to give the brand’s clients.

INFINITI Distinction is a “human-centric and holistic luxury experience,” according to the company. This all-encompassing program of services and technologies is designed to make luxury-vehicle ownership as convenient and seamless as possible. INFINITI Distinction can include everything from home or office valet pick-up and drop-off for service appointments, to easy scheduling through the MyINFINITI app, to personal travel planning help and complimentary roadside assistance anywhere in the U.S. and Canada.

The brand embraces tech to take the friction out of car ownership. For example, a four-year INFINITI InTouch service subscription is included with new vehicle purchases. You’ll have access to features such as in-car Wi-Fi and entertainment, remote engine start, preconditioning to keep your car’s cabin is warm when you need it, remote locking and unlocking, vehicle health reports, maintenance alerts and more.

Sometimes, however, car ownership needs a human touch. That’s where INFINITI Valet Service steps in. It’s a complimentary service that includes vehicle pickup and delivery when your car has to go in for service or maintenance. It’s a major time-saving perk. You don’t need to take the car to the dealership; the dealership comes to you, whether you happen to be at home or at the office. Not only that, but participating dealers will also offer up a complimentary INFINITI courtesy vehicle if your car is in for warranty repair. For added peace of mind, every new INFINITI now also comes with the Oil Change & Tire Rotation Plan as standard.

When the time comes, scheduling a service appointment at your local dealership couldn’t be easier. It takes just a couple of clicks on the MyINFINITI app. Through that app you can also check the owner’s manual or call for roadside assistance.

As the company boasts, “Driving an INFINITI is uniquely satisfying, and not just because of how it’s built — but because of what it stands for.”

This is not just marketing bluster; INFINITI is built different than other luxury brands, drawing upon cultural traditions from its native Japan.

“We feel like we have this huge resource of inspiration here in Japan,” explained automotive designer Alfonso Albaisa, INFINITI’s senior vice president of global design. “We have a term, ‘Omotenashi.’ It’s this sense of welcoming,” said Albaisa.

This concept of omotenashi is hard to translate, but easy to understand if you’ve ever been to Tokyo and experienced the flawless punctuality of the train service. It’s about respecting passengers’ time. Similarly, if you’ve ever been to a traditional Japanese inn (a Ryokan) you were probably floored by the unobtrusive helpfulness of the staff, who anticipate your needs and somehow remember all your preferences. That’s omotenashi.

Indeed, the idea of omotenashi underpins everything at INFINITI and explains the ethos behind the INFINITI Distinction program. While traditional luxury brands are about flashing a badge, all about luxury as a status symbol, something to be kept pristine and separate from real life, INFINITI aims to deliver luxury that’s meant to be enjoyed and lived in. It’s a tacit recognition of luxury’s shifting meaning. Modern luxury consumers aren’t just buying products; they’re investing in experiences and objects that enhance their lives.

INFINITI Distinction offers a compelling argument that true luxury extends far beyond the vehicles; it’s about giving drivers back their time, one thoughtful service at a time.
