HUMBERTOWN JEWELLERS x SHARP

At Angelus, the sound of a watch has always been as important as the time it keeps. Founded in Switzerland in 1891, the Maison made its name with technically ambitious timepieces, developing an early expertise in innovation: repeaters alongside chronographs and movements renowned for their impressive power reserves. Its watchmaking earned enough respect that other prestigious Maison’s received Angelus movements, and its vintage timepieces remain highly regarded among collectors.

For the first time, Canadian watch enthusiasts can discover Angelus through Humbertown Jewellers, which has been selected as the Swiss Maison’s exclusive Canadian distributor. It is a fitting partnership: Angelus has spent more than a century pursuing an independent forward-thinking approach to watchmaking, while Humbertown Jewellers has built its reputation in Canada on knowing exceptional timepieces–and the discerning people who seek them out.

The partnership brings together two family-rooted businesses connected by heritage and philosophy. Founded in Toronto in 1980 by industry veteran Ferit Tecimer, Humbertown Jewellers has grown from a neighbourhood jewellery store into one of the country’s premiere destinations for luxury jewellery and timepieces. Today, its expertise spans some of the world’s most respected Swiss manufacturers, alongside the personal service and long-standing client relationships that have defined the business from the beginning.

Meanwhile, Angelus is writing its next chapter through two distinctive creative expressions: La Fabrique looks to the archives, revisiting historically important timepieces, design, and complications with a contemporary sensibility. L.A.B. – Legacy and Beyond takes a more experimental path, exploring architectural forms, advanced mechanics, and unconventional materials. Together, they reflect a Maison that honours its past while challenging traditional convention.

The Tinkler 1958 Steel captures this vision beautifully. Inspired by history, Angelus is reissuing one of its rarest, most refined models: The Tinkler, based on the original 1958 edition. Introduced following Angelus’s 1958 patent for a striking wristwatch, this contemporary interpretation brings a distinctly 1950s elegance to a highly sophisticated complication. Its 38-mm stainless steel case is understated, with a pusher at 9 o’clock activating its self-winding quarter-repeater. A vintage-inspired sunburst dial, saddle-brown alligator flank leather strap, and discreet “A” monogram on the case back complete the picture.

For Humbertown Jewellers, bringing Angelus to Canada is a seamless partnership given its commitment to exceptional, independent watchmaking. For discerning Canadian collectors, it represents something more personal: the chance to discover Angelus through a retailer whose heritage is built on expertise, trust, and an appreciation for truly extraordinary timepieces.
