Sharp List: Powerwall by Tesla

In a nut shell, Tesla’s Powerwall is a futuristic energy bank that’ll soak up energy when it’s plentiful (and at its cheapest), so that you can use it when you need it. If you’ve got solar panels on your roof, that’s even better—the power bank will charge during the day while the sun it brightest, and you can still heat your home/run the dishwasher/etc. when you choose. If you don’t have the panels, that’s ok too, and will still save you dough by using your usual power-grid-sourced energy when it’s cheapest. Either way, this thing is easy on your wallet, and on the environment. The company’s open-source patent policy means that not only can other companies follow suit creating this kind of battery, but they actually encourage it. Because saving the earth is, y’know, pretty important for all of us. Reserve your Powerwall here, for installation as early as this summer.
