Independent Swiss watch brand Norqain is probably best known for its high-profile tie-ins with professional hockey, including partnerships with a slew of top players and a headline-grabbing investment by Sidney Crosby earlier this year. Thanks to a new limited-edition, however, the brand is now establishing its presence on the tennis court, too. Developed in collaboration with Swiss tennis pro and three-time Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka, the Wild ONE Skeleton Stan the Man Limited Edition is a bold entry into the small-but-elite world of professional tennis watches.

Norqain produces a wide range of sports timepieces, but the Wild ONE has lately emerged as a halo model for the brand, with a variety of bright colours on offer to complement its eye-catching skeletonized dial. These versions are just a sampling of what’s possible with the Wild ONE of 1, a unique customization program which offers customers the chance to create their own Wild ONE timepiece in one of 3.5 million possible variations.

The story of the Wild ONE Skeleton Stan the Man Limited Edition begins, naturally, with Wawrinka, who joined Norqain as an investor and brand ambassador in 2024. Best known for his Grand Slam victories at the 2014 Australian Open, the 2015 French Open, and the 2016 US Open, the Swiss tennis champ was ranked third in the world at the height of his game. “Stan is a tennis legend, and it has brought us great joy to create a watch in his name,” said Ben Küffer, Norqain Founder and CEO. “He’s also a close friend. Huge thanks to him for his continued partnership in the Norqain story and his enthusiasm for growing the company.”

The watch itself is designed to befit a world champion, with a case crafted from the brand’s proprietary NORTEQ carbon fibre, a material developed in collaboration with industry legend Jean-Claude Biver that’s 6.25 times lighter than steel and 3.5 times lighter than titanium. The watch also features a rubber shock absorber (in tennis ball green, of course) and a chronometer-certified Swiss automatic movement that’s rated to withstand 5000g of acceleration, an attribute that makes it suitable for tennis and other fast-paced activities. Likewise, its black and yellow-green rubber strap features a tennis net-inspired motif, and the sapphire case back is printed with an image of Stan along with the dates of his Grand Slam victories.

“I never imagined someone would make such a cool, high-tech watch in my name,” Wawrinka said. “It’s an immense honour. And thanks to the impressive shock resistance of the Wild ONE models, it’s a watch professional tennis players can actually wear on the court.” Limited to 85 pieces, the Wild ONE Skeleton Stan the Man Limited Edition doesn’t just evoke the look of a tennis ball; it contains pieces of one, thanks to tennis ball fibres infused into the Norqain plate on the left side of the case. It’s a small detail, but alongside the Wild ONE’s other bona fides, it makes for a watch worthy of a three-time Grand Slam champ.
