Life in Pit Lane: The IWC Pilot Chronograph 41 Edition “Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula 1 Team”

With no less than eight championship titles between 2014 and 2021, Mercedes-AMG Petronas can claim more consecutive titles than any other team in Formula 1 history. While star driver Lewis Hamilton — who, with 103 victories, is the winningest F1 driver of all time — deserves much of the credit for this, the driver himself is quick to point out that his success hinges on the team of more than 900 engineers, designers, mechanics, and support staff working behind the scenes. This teamwork is the inspiration for the new Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 Edition “Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team” — the group’s first-ever dedicated timepiece.

As an homage to Formula 1 racing, every element of this Pilot’s Watch Chronograph was designed with high-speed engineering in mind, from its grade 5 titanium case to its signature Petronas green livery. Powered by the IWC-manufactured 69385 calibre movement, the new chronograph comes with two customized straps (in Petronas green–stitched calfskin and Petronas green rubber), which can be quickly swapped using IWC’s integrated EasX-CHANGE system. While every member of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One team received a watch in recognition of their achievements over the seasons, it’s available for the rest of us to purchase exclusively through IWC’s online shop.
