Two 39-Year-Old Rare Dalmore Private Cask Bottles Sold at Auction for Charity
After setting a new record at Sotheby’s in May with the sale of two rare whisky bottles at £266,200 each (yes, each), The Dalmore is back on the auction circuit again – this time for a good cause. Donated directly by the Dalmore Distillery, two Dalmore 38-year-old & 39-year-old private casks bottlings in engraved Candela crystal decanters sold at a Sotheby’s Hong Kong auction for 250,000 HKD (about $42,500 CAD) in aid of Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH).
The Dalmore was in good company for a good cause, too. Other storied Scotch whiskies up for auction included The Macallan 1950 Exceptional Single Cask 2018/ASB – 1683/13 aged over 67 years, Bowmore 52 Year Old 1965, Mortlach 70 Year Old Gordon & MacPhail Generations 1938, several rare Samaroli bottlings and other Japanese whiskies. If you’re looking to expand your rare whisky collection, it might be time to consider joining the auction circuit.
