Justin Trudeau and Barack Obama are Bro-ing Down Hard in DC Right Now

We’re only a few hours into Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s three-day state visit to Washington, and he and President Obama’s budding bromance is already back in full-swing.

First up, during the official welcome ceremony at the White House, Obama chirped Trudeau about his nation’s supposed hockey superiority.

“Now, I don’t want to gloss over the very real differences between Americans and Canadians. There are some things that we will probably never agree on — whose beer is better, who’s better at hockey,” he told the chuckling crowd. “Where’s the Stanley Cup right now? I’m sorry. Is it in my hometown, with the Chicago Blackhawks?”

The PM didn’t miss a beat, though, and fired back by pointing out exactly who won that Cup for the ‘Hawks.

“We know with certainty that there’s a high demand for Canadian goods down here,” Trudeau said. “A few that come to mind that President Obama just rightly recognized as being extraordinary contributors to the American success story [are] Jonathan Toews, Duncan Keith and Patrick Sharp of the Chicago Blackhawks.”

Then the two heartbreakers decided to cause the entire female population of the internet to collectively swoon by casually kissing some babies.

But JT and Barry weren’t the only ones bonding today.

At an event this morning promoting girls’ education around the world, Michelle Obama introduced Sophie Grégoire-Trudeau as “my soulmate right now,” and joked that they’d “already gotten into trouble” together.

Looks like we’ve got ourselves a pair of best couple friends.
