This Rustic Oceanfront Getaway Will Make You Pine for a Long Weekend
This serene house on Shelter Island — a picturesque town just a two-hour drive from Manhattan — is a dream-like getaway from all the hustle and bustle of metropolitan New York.
Design-savvy couple Harriet Maxwell Macdonald and Andrew Corrie purchased this 37-year-old home and wanted reinvigorate it while preserving its original spirit.
Harriet is one of the designers behind the interior product design studio OCHRE, and Andrew is the founder of Canvas Home, a modern sustainable homeware brand.
Combining their creative minds, they’ve made this home their own: simple interiors, luminescent beach-inspired colour palette, and charming, minimalistic pieces.
Some of these statement goods are first prototypes of OCHRE designs, while others are vintage treasures: there’s a gorgeous wood Steinway piano, for one, alongside a restored and refined Pierre.
They’ve carefully curated the home since 2004, and it’s a prime example of how to pick and edit the interiors of your own aestival escape.
