The Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 Cabriolet Is a Superyacht on Wheels

Last year, Mercedez-Benz introduced the Maybach 6 concept, giving us a glimpse into the future of its über-luxo brand. Their Maybach 6 Cabriolet gives us a further look into what that future might look like. And what it looks like, to be specific, is a really expensive luxury speedboat. For the road.

The Maybach 6 Cabriolet is essentially a decapitated version of its sister — it’s powered by the same electric drive system putting out 750 horsepower, with a range of over 321 kilometres. The interior, which Mercedes refers to as a “360-degree luxury lounge,” is equally impressive: Eames-style chairs, crystal-white leather, open-pore wood, blue fiber-optic ligatures, and yuuuge head-up displays that span the entire windshield.

But the real showstopper here? That exterior. Measuring an astonishing 20 feet long, this badboy is meant to echo classic Art Deco proportions. It features a curved body, swooping sidelines, 24-inch alloy wheels, and a preposterous, Olympic-sized hood. A radiator-style front grille borrows lines from the pinstriped suit, while the rear is meant to look like the boat tail of a yacht. That theme is underscored by a nautical blue metallic paint finish and a wooden floor inlaid with aluminum.

Of course, given that this is a concept, the Maybach 6 may not hit the market until years from now. Hopefully, by then they’ll have iPhones long enough to fit this car into one frame.
