His laidback nature belies the precision with which he composes his looks, pushing boundaries while always remaining true to his own authentic sense of style.
SHARP sat down with Harris to get his take on winter fashion, trends, preferences, and how the SOREL Caribou™ boot fits into the current fashion landscape.
What influences your winter style?
First thing first, the COLD (laughs), but beyond that and besides the cold what I find my winter style being influenced by is my ability to add life or interest to the usually very greyscale winter streets of Toronto and New York. How can I add pops of different colours or how can I take the functionality of warmer pieces and turn them into looks that would catch eyes on the runway. I want people who see my outfits and who are inspired by my style to want to replicate my fits and feel both warm and comfortable, without sacrificing style.
What winter styling trends are you most excited about this year?
I have three that have caught my attention. One is a classic winter season staple, and the others are definitely trending right now. I absolutely love trench coats on any outfit; they can add a layer of sophistication regardless of what’s under it. Faux fur and animal prints are also popping up everywhere, and styling with them can help a look jump right out of the winter greys. Lastly, chunky boots are right up my alley. Boots like the SOREL Caribou™ go perfectly with streetwear looks and add a rugged touch to classier looks as well.
How does footwear, specifically boots, play a role in your styling?
Right now, boots are in. The bigger, the bulkier, the better. Everyone wants to make a statement and boots are a perfect way to do so. Especially now, as the category is filled with all different kinds of styles; from furry boots, to mountain boots, to streetwear styles, there’s a boot for everyone, and the good ones once again bring functionality to the table, as well as great design.
What do you like about the SOREL Caribou™ boot?
First and foremost, I love how warm they are, as I have to be outside a lot. Whether I’m going to stores for styling or on the road creating content, a boot that’s warm and waterproof while having a classic and stylish silhouette and colour works perfectly for my day-to-day life. I especially like this colour out of SOREL’s many options, because brown is in season this winter, and it complements well with dark chocolate and ranges all the way to greens of matcha and the light browns of mocha.
