As far as men’s swimwear goes, it’s hard to top Toronto’s Bather Trunk Co. The upstart label’s Canadian-made trunks fit great, look even better, and are cost effective enough that you’ll still be able to afford a beach vacation to wear them on. And now, thanks to Bather’s very first brick-and-mortar pop-up, it’s never been easier to get into a pair.
Tucked in the back of Lost & Found (44 Ossington Ave.) — one of the coolest menswear boutiques in Toronto — the Bather Gift Shop feels like a Hamptons beach house owned by an indie rock frontman: think wood panelling, an overabundance of plants, and hanging rattan furniture. Best of all, it’s stocked to the brim with all of Bather’s latest summer-ready goods — their pitch-perfect trunks in bold patterns and sharp solids; denim 6-panel caps; and a few clever graphic tees that pay tribute to Toronto’s best beaches. (Yes, Hanlan’s Point made the cut.)
The shop’ll be open till the end of August, but we’d recommend getting there sooner rather than later. You want some time to actually enjoy those new trunks, don’t you?
