We Have No Idea What They’re Saying, But These Irish Rowers Sure Are Excited About Their Medals
Not all athletes use their time as newly-crowned Olympic medalists to cry, thank God and their parents, and wax poetic about fulfilling every dream they’ve ever had.
Some athletes, like Paul and Gary O’Donovan, a pair of Irish brothers and silver-medal-winning rowers, would rather use their interviews to calmly talk about doing “podium things,” wearing podium pants, peeing into cups for doping tests, eating Nutella and pizza, and the “very real,” not-superimposed background of beautiful Rio vistas.
We’re not sure if its their accents or the fact that they’d rather be in their hometown partying with the lads than finishing out the week in Rio, but the O’Donovan brothers just topped our list of awesome athletes we’d want to hang with.
Stay golden, Paul and Gary.
