This Hillside Southern Californian Retreat Was Built Where the Sun Shines

Does the thought of living on a beautiful hillside in Southern California appeal to you? Have you ever felt the need to recreate the opening to The Lion King from on high? Then the Wild Lilac House by Walker Design is the place for you.

Located in the San Bernardino National Forest, this 4000 sq. foot house is comprised of a main residence and a pool house. The heavy stucco walls provide maximum privacy for the residents and protect the interior from the bright California sun.

Ra worshippers shouldn’t fear, though — the house features a large glass façade facing west, so you can watch the sun set each day.

In the east end of the residence sits a courtyard with an integrated pool and spa, where you can unwind after a long day of following all those glorious rays around your house. It is time, Simba!
