Own a Piece of Waystar Royco: ‘Succession’ Props Up for Auction
Do you still have a family-run-media-empire-sized gap in your heart after last May’s fiery conclusion to Succession? We’re not sure of the exact shape of that gap, mind you, but we have a couple guesses — it might look like the Paul Stewart jacket worn by SHARP cover alum Brian Cox for the series pilot, or perhaps it’s the size of the Royco office bar set. If these guesses sound hyper-specific, well, that’s because they’re items up for auction at Heritage Auctions. The large American auction house is hosting the sale of a slew of props, costumes, and memorabilia from the hit HBO show. We’re taking a deep scroll through the archives to find the coolest pieces from behind-the-scenes, including authentic props and costumes.
Succession Props and Decor
Few items made it through all four seasons of Succession — a fact that makes Logan Roy’s bar set all the more notable. Whether they fade into the background or inform a scene, the props play a massive part in building character; the bar set, for instance, communicates that Logan Roy is the type of old-school businessman to pour out scotch for a meeting. Owning a prop is like incorporating a piece of his refined style into your own. The entire spread includes the following: one glass-backed drink tray, three decanters, three flared water glasses, three grid-patterned cocktail glasses, one large metal decorative bowl, and four decorative iron spears from Williams Sonoma. Any dedicated fan will appreciate the collectible, to be sure, but the clear-cut aesthetic makes the glass set a worthy addition to anyone’s home; fan or no.
Other items include a version of the scorpion paperweight given to Shiv Roy in season 4, cast in an amber resin and set upon a soft foam cushion. European Union license plates, created for the Roy family’s Range Rovers during a family trip to Hungary, currently sit at $550. One episode package, “Boar on the Floor” includes prop sausages, a boar tag, photo album, and the actual shot glasses used during a post-hunt dinner in Hungary. Specially-made magazine covers capture the Roy family spectacle, complete with headlines and photoshoots that highlight the ongoing chaos surrounding Waystar Royco.
Behind the Scenes Collectibles
For the most dedicated HBO fans, Heritage Auction has a host of paraphernalia straight from the set. Artifacts include Roman Roy’s (Kieran Culkan) handwritten funeral speech. Left unsaid after “an unusual display of emotion and grief,” the speech is a true piece of Succession history. Culkan’s chilling performance as Roman Roy earned him a Golden Globe for Best Performance by a Male Actor on Television in a Drama Series this year. Perhaps the cards are a good luck charm?
Succession Costumes
The Roys, like any drama-filled family on the small screen, had no shortage of lavish parties. Of course, where there’s parties, there’s costumes — for you the buyer, that means plenty of stylish ensembles from the set are up for grabs. Lukas Matsson’s pre-election party look includes an ostentatious full-zip, gold-velvet bomber jacket, black joggers by Acne, and retro-style leopard-print Nikes (all worn by Alexander SkarsgÃ¥rd himself). A more understated look is Tom Wambsgans’ Canali Suit, worn by Matthew Macfadyen while filming his testimony before Congress in season 2. The double-vent jacket is timeless, with single-notched lapels and flat grey trousers to match.
