Ashkan Hobian has mastered the art of personal style. The art director’s aesthetic is notably sleek — he knows the effect a well-placed piece of statement jewellery can have to take his outfit to the next level.

“I’m all about clean, modern designs that still feel timeless,” said Hobian. “I like pieces with a little edge, but they also need to be versatile enough to go from casual to more elevated looks.”

From its diamond-crusted jewellery to its glimmering interior design, Tiffany & Co. captures the sort of upscale versatility that Hobian speaks of. Perched inside the Yorkdale Shopping Centre, the Toronto boutique balances edge with elegance. It’s a contemporary take on the aesthetics of tradition — a fitting match for the art director.

Growing up, Hobian was influenced by his Iranian heritage — he credits his upbringing for his affinity for well-crafted jewellery, with his family members frequently adorning intricate designs.

“My grandmother had an incredible collection of jewellery that felt like an extension of her elegance and her story,” said Hobian. “Watching how she chose and wore her pieces taught me that jewellery isn’t just an accessory — it’s a way to express personality and meaning.”

This reverence for jewellery has carried into his adult life as he expresses his identity with a statement necklace or bold earrings. As a jewellery lover, Tiffany is of course a staple in his wardrobe.

For him, Tiffany has always stood out as the “perfect mix of sophistication and artistry.”

“That Tiffany Blue Box is iconic — there’s this excitement and elegance that comes with it,” said Hobian. He admires how the brand has stayed true to its roots while remaining modern and timeless. “Their pieces feel aspirational but also deeply personal, like they’re designed for real moments in life.”

When it comes to styling with Tiffany, Hobian is a fan of the boldness in the HardWear collection.

“I love how the graduated link necklace feels strong and confident, but still super wearable,” said Hobian.

Elsewhere, Hobian is drawn to the T-Huggie earrings: “They’re sleek and minimalist but make such a statement.”

“I’d lean into the earrings as a statement, maybe with a tailored blazer and a sleek hairstyle to really show them off,” said Hobian. “They’re also great for layering with more delicate pieces for a mix of bold and soft.”

Hobian looks for clean, modern designs in his jewellery, choosing pieces that, while edgy, still work for elevated and casual occasions alike. He loves how jewellery can make an outfit feel uniquely his — little touches can create a major impact when styling an outfit.

“Whether it’s a bold statement piece or a subtle detail, it can say so much about your mood, style, or personality,” said Hobian.

Hobian is influenced by the vibrant culture of his home city, Toronto. Much like Tiffany’s ongoing relationship with New York City, his creativity is stoked by the city around him.  “There’s this mix of art, culture, and architecture that makes the city feel alive, and that energy definitely influences how I approach style,” said Hobian.
