Here’s How to Buy the Rare Dior x Air Jordan Sneakers

One of Nike’s most popular sneakers in history is getting the Dior treatment. After rapper Travis Scott leaked images of the Dior x Air Jordan 1 back in January, designer Kim Jones took to Instagram this week to officially announce that the most hyped shoe collab of the year will be rolled out in select Dior stores in April and will retail at USD$2,000. But here’s the catch: the #AirDior AJ1s are limited to just 8,500 pairs.

Don’t give up hope just yet. Sneakerhead Twitter has dutifully revealed that hopefuls can enter a lottery on March 23 for the chance to buy a pair online or at a pop-up store, with the results announced three days later. The US pop-ups are thought to be in New York from April 16 – 23 and LA from May 1 – 8.

The beloved basketball shoe is produced in a supple Italian calfskin leather with hand-painted edges and the original Dior Oblique jacquard swoosh, and has already been gifted to Jones’s close friends and collaborators Scott and artist Daniel Arsham.

British-born Jones has a preternatural gift for dissolving the boundary between streetwear and luxury. As Louis Vuitton’s former menswear style director, he broke the internet (and sales records) with a monster collaboration with the brand that started it all and transcends all the hype: Supreme.

If you do happen to get your hands on a pair of Air Diors, better to keep them on ice; you can’t risk getting them scuffed on the court.
