Oyster Yachts Debuts Its 80-foot 805: A Bespoke Bluewater Cruiser
British yacht builder Oyster Yachts was founded in 1973 and quickly became a premier builder of high-performance, bluewater cruising yachts. The Oyster 26 was the company’s first model, setting the tone for a reputation that combines robust construction, bespoke contemporary design, and exceptional seaworthiness. By the late 1970s, Oyster had expanded its range, introducing larger models like the Oyster 39, which became a favourite among serious offshore sailors.

The 1980s and 1990s marked Oyster’s rise as a leader in luxury cruising, with the innovative Oyster Lightwave series and the iconic Oyster 485 cementing the brand’s signature deck saloon design. In 1998, Oyster launched the Oyster 82, its largest yacht, showcasing cutting-edge craftsmanship and bespoke interiors.
A pivotal moment came in 2008, when Oyster was acquired by Dutch entrepreneur Richard Hadida, who revitalized the brand with new investments and models like the Oyster 575 and Oyster 885. Today, Oyster Yachts remains synonymous with handcrafted British luxury, producing semi-custom sailing yachts from 54 to 125 feet, each built for global adventure. With a loyal following among elite sailors, Oyster continues to push boundaries in design, performance, and comfort, maintaining its place as one of the world’s most prestigious yacht builders.

The new 80-foot 805 sits in the sweet spot between the yacht builder’s Oyster 745 and larger 885 Series II, while introducing new features for a select group of buyers. It is launched amid strong financial growth for the iconic British yard. Oyster Yachts has also appointed Torsten Müller-Ötvös as Strategic Advisor, a man known for transforming Rolls-Royce into a modern luxury powerhouse.
Oyster Yachts 805 is an 80-foot superyacht that offers bespoke customization that sets the bar for guest comfort. Owners of the bluewater cruiser can configure the four ensuite cabins to create an onboard gym, private library, cosy den, or dedicated office for longer stays at sea, where comfortable living is not compromised. For seasoned hosts, the saloon can be designed to include a day bar for their guests to socialize with a sundowner separate from the galley.

The exterior profile of the Oyster 805 is an evolution of Oyster Yachts’ signature design and sets it apart both at sea and at anchor. The 80-foot yacht has a profile that combines sweeping lines with three sets of the recognisable Seascape windows, while on deck, a sunken tender well on the foredeck can be transformed into a relaxing and spacious chill-out zone. A new daybed is integrated into the centre cockpit, protected by a fixed Starlight Bimini that underlines the sleek design of the upper deck while creating a tempting space for alfresco dining. At the aft of the 805, owners can enjoy a twin-access bathing platform that includes an integrated shower, while being a perfect base for water sports and snorkelling.

The new 805 is a product of Oyster’s longstanding partnership with Humphreys Yacht Design, led by renowned naval architect Tony Castro, who specializes in high-performance, custom sailing and motor yachts. The partnership has made Oyster a byword for yachts offering modern, efficient hulls that blend cutting-edge technology with an elegant presence, exemplified by the design of the new 805.
